QUESTION OF THE MONTH... JULY

Dear ScribbleMonster,
Who is your favorite Disney Channel star?
Megan

  • That's a tough one, Megan. You see, I don't get the Disney Channel, so I don't really know who the Disney Channel stars are.  I liked the movie Enchanted - that's probably not on the Disney Channel yet.  I like the song "Breaking Free" from High School Musical - I never saw it though. That Donald Duck guy cracks me up. Is he on the Disney Channel?

Have a question? Write to me! I love getting mail! Just drop me a note at mail@scribblemonster.com.
You may even show up on this page as my Question of the Month!

Dear ScribbleMonster,
What's your favorite kind of cheese?
David

  • David, have you been spying on me? How do you know that I love cheese? I love Cheddar, Colby, Monterey Jack, Romano, American, Provolone, Swiss, Cream Cheese, Muenster, Mozzarella, Parmesan, Cottage Cheese, Ricotta.. I like cheese slices, sticks, bricks, wheels...  I can only choose one?  I'll have Sharp Cheddar, please.

Dear ScribbleMonster,
What are monsters afraid of?
Manuel

  • Good question, Maneul! I think monsters, like people, are afraid of things they don't understand. Being a monster, I have no idea why some people are afraid of us.  I mean, when have you ever met a mean monster?  It's crazy!  Many times when we learn more about the things we're afraid of, we find out they're not so scary after all.

Dear ScribbleMonster,
Would you like to sing a song with Hannah Montana?
Ginny

  • Okay.  Did you have any song in mind?  Not that it matters.  Any song she wants to sing with me is fine. Can she come to my house though? I don't know where she lives.

Dear ScribbleMonster,
I really don't know what I'm going to be for Halloween.  Do you have a costume yet?  Do you have any ideas for me for my costume? Halloween is coming up!
Brittani

  • I'm not sure what I'm going to be for Halloween this year either.  It's a big decision because whatever I decide to be, I can't be something else until next year. My favorite costume was Frankenstein.  I liked it so much that maybe I'll be that again.

No pressure, but where having a costume parade at my
Halloween Show.  I hope you can make it!

Dear ScribbleMonster
You should tap dance while you sing and play guitar. Your fans would see you and go, "dang" and throw you lots of money and you'll be rich.  Have you ever thought of that?
Marcus

  • Honestly Marcus, I never have thought of that. What a great idea! I'll have to start practicing though.  I'll let you know how it works out.

Dear ScribbleMonster!
What is your favorite color?
Michelle

  • Oh, Michelle, that's a tough one.  I usually say my favorite color is rainbow because I can't pick just one. I love bold colors and there are so many awesome colors to chose from.  I can tell you this:  I like shades of green slightly less than all the rest (sorry, green).

Hiya ScribbleMonster!
I hope in 100 years that I can meet you and I can be your friend.
Jed

  • Hiya Jed, you don't have to wait 100 years - we can be friends now, okay?  If anyone asks about you, I'll say, "You mean my good friend, Jed?"  It'll be great. Thanks for being my friend, Jed!

Dear ScribbleMonster,
I love your song The World's Greatest.  My dad is a dentist and he loves it, too. Is your dad a dentist?
Charles

  • No, but it's cool that your dad is a dentist.  Does he ever let you use the drill? What do you want to be when you grow up?

Dear ScribbleMonster,
Do you know Casper the Friendly Ghost?
Avery

  • I know of Casper, but we've never met. It appears that we have a lot in common and he seems like a nice guy.  Do you know Casper the Friendly Ghost? If so, maybe you can introduce us some day.  I would like that.

Dear ScribbleMonster,
Where do you keep your horse?
Claire

  • Um, I don't have a horse.  But if I did have a horse, I would probably keep it in my barn. That is, if I had a barn.  Do you have a horse? If so, where do you keep it?

Dear ScribbleMonster,
How is your little sister, ScribbleSis?  Please tell her that I said hi and that I love her.
Saray

  • My sister was so excited to get mail.  ScribbleSis says, "hi" too. We've been working together making houses out of boxes for our stuffed animals today.  We've practically built a whole new town in our living room! Thanks for writing.  We hope that you're having fun!

Dear ScribbleMonster,
We love the new Michigan song. Where can we get it?
Eric, Jennifer, Heather, Beth, Cindi, Ben and a few other people.

  • Wow. I got a bunch of mail asking this same question. Our new song "I Wish I Lived in Michigan" will be on the album A Curious Glimpse of Michigan - The Music due out in November from Cooperfly Books.  It will eventually end up on iTunes like the rest of our songs as well.  In the meantime, you can request to hear it on XMKiDS

Dear ScribbleMonster,
Would you rather be a movie star or a doctor?
Lynn

  • That's a tough one.  Maybe I could be a movie star and play a doctor in one of my films. That would probably work out better than being a doctor that pretends to be a movie star.

Dear ScribbleMonster,
Have I told you that the band is playing at Lollapalooza this summer?
ScribbleJim

  • Yes, I think you may have mentioned that once or twice.

Dear ScribbleJim,
I love your song "Oh Well."  Did you really fall in the toilet?
Emma

  • Yes. That song is made up entirely of true tramatic stories from my childhood.  I'm sure that I'm not the only person who ever fell in the toilet (right?), but I may very well be the only one sharing the experience with others - in song, no less.

Dear ScribbleMonster,
Which weighs more, a ton of feathers or a ton of bricks?
Nick

  • You can't fool me with that one. They both weigh a ton. But which weighs more, 500 bunnies in a car or 500 rabbits in an automobile?

Dear ScribbleMonster,
I am 12 years old and babysit for boys who are 2 and 4.  It's easy to distract them but I've run out of ideas. Could you please recommend some activities that I could do with them to busy them until their parents come home?
Ashley

  • Congratulations on the babysitting job. That's a big responsibility. It can be hard to keep the little ones entertained.  There's plenty to do here.  You can print pictures to draw, activities to complete, draw online and get ideas from my past newletters.  Good luck.

Dear ScribbleMonster,
What do you want for Christmas?
Justin

  • If I could have one wish for Christmas, it would be for all the children of the world to hold hands and sing "Chocolate Milk" in unison with smiling faces and chocolate milk mustaches.

Dear ScribbleMonster,
Would you rather be a girl or a boy?
Olivia

  • A boy. Which works out nicely for me seeing as how I am a boy.  But if you wanted to see what I would look like as a girl, you could always draw me that way. It's just one of the many benefits of being a ScribbleMonster.

Dear ScribbleMonster,
I am 10 years old and I have one sister. Sometimes my sister is mean if you know what I mean. Oh, my sister is four years old.
Heather

  • I have a little sister, too - and yes, I do know what you mean.  If my sister's mean, it's usually because she's tired or in a bad mood.  It can be hard, but I try to stay nice and come up with ways to make her feel better. And if that doesn't work, I keep a list of all the mean things she's done that I'm going to give to Santa. Heh-heh.

Dear ScribbleMonster,
What do monsters eat?
Troy

  • Is this a riddle?  If so, I give up. Personally, I like to eat chicken, cheeseburgers, grapes, pasta, carrots, mashed potatoes, oh, and maybe you've heard, I love chocolate milk.

Dear ScribbleMonster,
Why does Spider-Man have to make a formula for his web?
Jess

  • That's a good question, but I have no idea how to answer it. I'm thinking you should be asking Spider-Man.

Dear ScribbleMonster,
Do you know any magic spells?
Evelyn

  • Do I?  Watch me make my answer disappear.

Dear ScribbleMonster,
We want to know if you like tomatoes.  We like tomatoes.
Nickisue

  • I have nothing against tomatoes. Most tomatoes I've met have been nice and very polite. Of all the fruits, they are the friendliest to the vegetables. I like ketchup.  Tomato sauce is good on pasta.  I like the Tomato Collection.  I'm not particularly fond of eating tomatoes, but I think they prefer it that way.

Dear ScribbleMonster,
Do you ever think about being a superhero and what is the name of him?
Lisa

  • ScribbleKitty has a cool superhero song on our new album.  Her name, and the name of the song, is Superhealthy.

Dear ScribbleMonster,
Why can't I see my forehead when I look up?
Benji

  • Hmmm.  That's a good question. I can't see my forehead when I look up either. I guess that's why they make mirrors.

Dear ScribbleMonster,
How many fingers do you have?  Four, two or three?
Morgan

  • Well, I usually have 4 fingers on each hand, but that's really up to you.  I've seen pictures of me with 6 fingers, 8 fingers, 11 fingers... one time I even had 5 arms and 22 fingers!  You can print out pictures of me and some of my pals HEREWhen you're done, maybe you can let me know how many fingers I have.

Dear ScribbleMonster,
I like your good music and your books. Do you have any pets?  I like music. Do you like music?
Alec

  • Thanks for the kind words, Alec. My sister and I each have our own goldfish and my grandma has two dogs and a bird that I get to play with.  I don't like music - I love music!  I love to sing, to play the guitar, drums, piano and listen to my favorite songs. Do you play any instruments?

Dear ScribbleMonster,
Can you eat 10 carrots in 5 seconds? And how many pals do you have? I'm talking about the friend pals, not the shovel and pal.
Sarah

  • Let's see. "Crunch, crunch, crunch, crunch."  No, I can't eat 10 carrots in 5 seconds.  Can you?  I have lots of pals - there's ScribblePiggy, Josh, ScribbleBunny, Lindsey, Griffin,  ScribbleKitty, Elaina, Officer Scribbly, Nina, Sally from ScribbleRepair, Ray, you... there's too many to list, really. Oh, and I have one shovelin' pail.

Dear ScribbleMonster,
Are you ever on TV?
Cam

  • I sat on a TV once, does that count? My band has a new video for our song A Monster Goes Rrraargh! I've watched it on a TV.  You can see it HERE. Why don't you watch it, then turn your computer off for a while and make some of your own fun?

Hi ScribbleMonster,
How are you? Does ScribbleKitty live at your house? I love her song Wishing Around. It is my favorite.
Winnie

  • Hi, Winnie!  I'm fine.  Thanks for asking.  How are you?  ScribbleKitty doesn't live at my house, but she does live on my block. I love "Wishin' Around", too.  I bet you'll love her new song, Beautiful Day just as much - if not more!

Dear ScribbleMonster,
How do you make a monkey fly?
Sean 6

  • You throw him out the window.  No wait.  That's how you make "butter-fly." Or maybe I'm thinking of "How do you make time fly? Throw your clock out the window."  Don't throw monkeys.  It's not a good idea. There are flying monkeys in the Wizard of Oz.  The Monkees were superheroes in one episode and they were flying.

    Did I answer your question?

Dear ScribbleMonster,
Why does the color green get included with the primary colors so often?  Whenever something comes in 4 colors it always seems to be blue, red, yellow and green.  What's wrong with orange and purple?
Josh

  • Blue, red and yellow are the primary colors for mixing paint or printing with ink, but did you know that the primary colors for light are blue, red and green?  Those are the only 3 colors used to make all the colors that you see on your tv and computer screen.  They are the 3 colors your eyes sense and send to your brain to make all the colors that you see.  And that is why, I would guess, that green gets included more often than orange or purple.

There's nothing wrong with orange and purple.  I believe they're underserved and should be used more often.

Dear ScribbleMonster,
What's your favorite snack?
Kristina

  • There are so many, really. But it's hard to go wrong with a nice tall, cold glass of chocolate milk.  Yum!

Dear ScribbleMonster,
Have you ever visited Japan?
Keiji

Dear ScribbleMonster,
Are you famous?
Joe

  • I'm more famous with people who know me than with people who don't.  But I'm working on that.

Dear ScribbleMonster,
What do you want to be when you grow up?
Maria

  • I'd like to be a milkman, a teacher, a baseball player, a librarian, a puppeteer, a fireman, an aeronautical engineer, a dancer, a scuba diver, a guitarist, a doctor, an artist, a landscape architect, a superhero, a computer programmer, a poet, and the guy who puts the prizes in the Cracker Jack boxes. But that's just this week. I'm always changing my mind because there are so many great things to be.  What do you want to be?

Dear ScribbleMonster,
Do you know any magic tricks?
Donald

  • Do I?  Here's a good one.  Tell your friends that you have eleven fingers. Then count them while pointing to each finger, "1-2-3.." on up to 10.  Then say, "I know I had eleven" and start counting them again, this time counting backwards.  Count the first hand "10-9-8-7-6" then hold up your other hand and say, "plus 5 equals eleven!" When you do it fast enough, you'll have your pals scratching their heads.  Tee-hee.

Dear ScribbleMonster,
What do you drive and what color is it?
Amanda

  • Well, I'm too young to drive a car, but I've made a car out of a big box that I pretend to drive. That car is cardboard brown, orange, yellow and red. I also ride a bike that is black, silver and purple, and a skateboard that is blue.  I drive my green sled through the snow in the winter, and I also have a pair of maroon roller skates with white stripes and gray wheels.

Dear ScribbleMonster,
What is your favorite joke?
Emily

  • I love jokes, especially knock-knock jokes!  But my favorite joke would have to be...
Q- What's the best thing to put on a chili-dog?
                   A- A sweater.
Get it?  They think you're talking about food, but you're really talking about a cold dog! It's a play with words using two words that sound the same, but mean different things.  Those kind of words are called homophones or homonyms. "Who's on the phone singing hymns?" Jokes... Language Arts... could this site get any better?  What's your favorite joke? Send it to me in an
    e-mail.

Dear ScribbleMonster,
What do you do when everybody calls you small and it's true? Everyone is mean to me because I'm small. What do I do about that?
Kimberly

  • Some people say things about how big I am and how a big boy like me should act his age and stuff like that. I found that you can't do much about what other people think and say, you can only do something about the way you react to it. Sometimes people just say hurtful things, I don't know why. I try not to let it bother me, even though it's true that I am really big for my age. Sometimes it does bother me, but most of the time I focus on things I really like about myself. I'm really good at jumping puddles and hula-hooping. What are you good at?

Dear ScribbleMonster,
Why does seeing someone else yawn make you yawn?
Patrick

  • A yawn gives you a quick grab of oxygen and kind of jump-starts your heart, lungs, blood-flow and brain. Usually, you will yawn when your body needs the oxygen reboot. But why does someone else's yawn make you yawn?  Most scientists think it's just a reflex. Yawn.

Dear ScribbleMonster,
Why do you only have four teth?
Michael

  • Well, Michael, if you mean "teeth", that's a good question. I have four teeth right now, but if you'd like to see me with more, just draw some more in! How many teeth do you have?

Dear ScribbleMonster,
When I hear a scary sound like a monkey hanging outside my window, I need to turn on every light in the house.
Ryanne

  • Thanks for sharing.

Dear ScribbleBunny, - (That's a first!)
Why don't you like to eat carrots?
Kaitlyn

  • Actually, I have come to "appreciate" them. If you read ScribbleMonster and the Crunchy, Crunchy Carrots, you'll know why. We all like different things, even foods. Our little differences are part of what makes each of us special and so much fun. To me, there's nothing better than a cold glass of milk. ScribbleKitty agrees, but she prefers her milk in a bowl. See how fun that is?

Dear ScribbleMonster,
Did you know broccoli is a person?
Thomas

  • Okay, Thomas, here's a question for you then: Do you eat it anyway?

Dear ScribbleMonster,
What color are you supposed to be?
Trevor

  • That's the really fun thing about me - I can be any color you want! You can make me all one color or a mess of colors. You can draw in extra parts or just scribble over what's already there. I can look different every time you create me!

Dear ScribbleMonster,
Can I come to your tea party?
Amanda

  • If I ever have one, yes, you can come.

Dear ScribbleMonster,
What's your favorite song?
Jordyn

  • Funny you should ask. My favorite song is "A Monster Goes Rrraargh". It's my very own song! My friends and I just finished recording it. You can listen to it on my MUSIC page!

Dear ScribbleMonster,
Why do I get fuzz in my belly button?
Brandon

  • I believe they call that "lint". I'm not sure where it comes from, but I know how you can get rid of it: Listen to my friend ScribblePiggy sing Scrub-a-Dub!! Click here for more information about our CD!

Dear ScribbleMonster,
What does your friend, ScribbleTurtle, look like?
Jacob & Lindsey

  • My friend ScribbleTurtle is so cute. Have you read ScribbleMonster and the Crunchy, Crunchy Carrots? There is a picture of her head and neck in that book, but as far as what the rest of her looks like, it's really all up to you and how you color her. There's also a picture of her on MY SCRAPBOOK page.

Dear ScribbleMonster,
Why are there 12 months in a year?
Devon

  • I don't know, but my birthday is in May!

Dear ScribbleMonster,
My brother told me your eyeballs can fall out when you sneeze. Is this true?
Elizabeth

  • Remember, I'm not a doctor (if they ever publish ScribbleMonster Finds a Job you'll find out why), but I bet nature made us with things to hold our eyeballs in place even if we sneeze really hard. I don't know for sure, though, because I have never been able to keep my eyes open when I sneeze, have you?

Dear ScribbleMonster,
What do red and brown make again?
Gina

  • Reddish Brown.

Dear ScribbleMonster,
Do you know Harry Potter?
Noah

  • Know him personally? No.  I know of him and we have some of the same friends, but we've never met.

Dear ScribbleMonster,
My name is Ray.  I think you know me.  I love your books.  I love your CD. I like to sing "A Monster Goes Rrraargh!"
Ray

  • Sure.  I know you. You're my pal, Ray, right?

Dear ScribbleMonster,
I love your pictures.  I'm glad you made new pictures that I can make on the computer. Is there a ScribbleWolf?
William

  • William, I'm glad you're enjoying my new ScribblePaint.  I haven't seen a ScribbleWolf,  but that doesn't mean there's not one out there. I bet you could make a great ScribbleWolf yourself!
